 People really need to stop writing about magic and religion if they haven't actually researched anything. I'm so tired of seeing Good Magic = Wicca and Evil Magic = Satanism everywhere. Like, that isn't even what Wicca is let alone the rest of witchcraft (being invented by a Christian fundamentalist, Wicca is pretty sex-negative), and Satanism is not even in the ballpark of what's being described here, holy hell. And a lot of Wiccans wouldn't even call themselves witches, let alone the other way around??? Most Satanists wouldn't call themselves witches, and almost none for being Satanists. There are Christian witches of all stripes including Christian Wiccans, and there are Christian Satanists, and there are Wiccan Satanists, and there are people who are all three...none of this is correct, nothing in these stories is correct, also I get that it's a murder mystery but the occurrence of ritual murder is extremely low across all categories, that's just one of those things that happens on TV and not really in real life. (Cult abuse of other forms does occur much more commonly, but it's substantially more likely from Christian cults than """Satanist""" ones.) And all of this is pretty accessible with an internet connection. Just. If you can't tell the difference between a Wiccan and a witch or a Satanist and a Satan Worshiper please don't write about it. (Also if you can't tell the difference between worshiping The Christian Devil and a Miltonian Satanic figure, just stop.)
